Notable Areas:

Portland:
Portland is a city located in the Northwestern United States, near the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers in the state of Oregon. As of July 2008, it is considered to be the thirtieth most populous in the United States, and is frequently referred to as the greenest city in the United States.

The city and region are noted for strong land-use planning and investment in light rail, supported by Metro, a regional-government scheme unique to this state. Portland is also known for its large number of microbreweries and microdistilleries, as well as the home of the Trail Blazers, an NBA team. Portland lies in the Marine west coast climate region, marked by warm, dry summers and rainy but moderate winters. This climate happens to be ideal for growing roses, and for more than a century, Portland has been known as "The City of Roses" with many rose gardens—most prominently the International Rose Test Garden.

Other:
Among the leading attractions are the distinct and rugged Oregon coast, with its renowned offshore salmon fishing; Crater Lake National Park; the Rogue River for river running and fishing; the Columbia Gorge, east of Portland; the Cascades wilderness; and Portland's annual Rose Festival. Oregon’s one national park, Crater Lake, and three other areas—John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Oregon Caves National Monument and Ft. Clatsop National Memorial—are managed by the National Park Service. The US Forest Service administers the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, on the Oregon coast; the Lava Lands Visitor Complex near Bend; and the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, east of Enterprise. Oregon has one of the nation's vastest state park systems: 225 parks and recreation areas covering 90,000 acres (36,400 hectares).
